Xing Lo Hing:  Farmer

Xing's tractor is very versatile. He uses it to cultivate, transport, and travel. By design, it functions best as a tractor/cultivator.  It can tow a heavy load slowly, but cannot tow light loads fast.  It functions poorly as a car since its top speed is only 8 mph and it has no suspension (which makes for a bumpy, slow ride on the rural roads).  Xing spends 10 hours per week operating his tractor for cargo transport or travel.

With a BUV, Xing could:

  • cultivate an additional 6 hours per week (travel time saved)

  • save on maintenance costs for the expensive tractor ($3000)

  • earn extra money transporting crops to market
