Today the IAT staff took a lunch hour visit to The Village Experience, a shop near downtown Broad Ripple that sells fair trade goods from developing nations. The BUV ministry shares a common goal with this organization because both care about stimulating the economy in third world countries. Goods include scarves, jewelry, pottery, hats, purses, candles, and paintings. Also, a handmade soap display caught our eye because it is produced in Zambia, where several BUVs are serving.
Kitonyi is the young man in the middle of the picture to the left. He is from Kenya and has recently spent time at our offices and factory learning about the mission of BUVs and about factory development.
Kitonyi brings goods from Kenya when he comes to the States including crafts, paintings, and accessories. He took some time to show Melissa at The Village Experience some of his products.
The BUV ministry may have the opportunity to have an event at the store sometime later in the summer so we will keep you posted on dates and details.
It was encouraging to see an organization that has put a unique spin on the way people in Indianapolis, Indiana can learn about the developing world.
