The
Ommad Family:
Mr.
Ommad is a construction worker. He supports his wife and two children on a salary of
$4000 per year. Mr. Ommad has an opportunity to make $6000 per
year, but the job requires him to deliver 100 gallons of
kerosene to to surrounding villages. Furthermore,
his two daughters have been
accepted into an honors school taught by missionaries 20 miles a way. No
public transportation exists. Finally, the
Ommad's relatives live about 100 miles away and the families visit only once per year.
The 10 hour bus ride includes multiple bus changes
and delays.
With a BUV, the Ommad family
can:
-
Travel
directly to relatives' homes in about 5 hours (on
any weekend)
-
Provide
their daughters a better education
(drive the daughters to school and
back)
-
Deliver
kerosene during the day and increase
income by 50%
