The Need for BUV

Quality of life depends upon affordable transportation.  People are more important than anything we possess, create, or see in the world.  BUVs are simply building blocks for opportunity, a tool that can help people help themselves.  The ripple effect provides benefits to people and entire nations.

  • children NEED access to education

  • the sick and elderly NEED access to healthcare

  • farmers NEED to transport crops to market

  • rural communities NEED jobs...

  • small businesses NEED to distribute products & services

People NEED:

  • a vehicle that accounts for a lack of infrastructure

  • a vehicle priced closer to average annual income

  • a vehicle that is easily repaired and understood

  • a vehicle that expands opportunity and access

  • water (BUVs can both pump water and carry water)

  • food (BUVs can grind grain and transport the harvest)

  • remote power...for cement mixers, air compressor, saw mills, etc

  • transport burden relief (especially women)

  • sustainable businesses

Simple transportation has a tremendous effect on overall productivity...see the Model T's impact on America, the Beetles impact on post-war Europe, the Citroen 2CV in post-war France, the Jeeps impact on the World War II, the bicycle and walking tractor in China. The 50-250cc scooters have been a huge blessing to developing countries worldwide, but they are unable to carry much cargo.   The rural parts of Africa and Latin America need a vehicle that is "appropriate" for their geography.  They have low population density, and vast distances with terrible road conditions.

Some say "Why not import Asian utility vehicles into Africa?"  Part Availability.  Hopefully this won't be a problem in 15 years.  An interim solution is needed that leverages local resources and provides jobs.

Finally, consider the the Lord's mandate.  Throughout scripture, he commands the wealthy to assist the poor and provide them opportunity.
