IAT is always in need of volunteers for our shop as well as business partners and donors to sustain our organization.
We invite you to join our team through one of two ways. Our ministry would not be complete without the support of hard-working volunteers and generous donors. When people hear about our mission and want to be involved, our goal is to tailor their experience to their specific passions. We have countless examples of people getting involved because the concept of simple transportation hits close to home.
- Retired engineers and handymen want to use their skills to help in our Indianapolis factory
- Donors with a history in the automotive industry understand the intricacies of the research and development that goes into producing a quality product.
- Families and churches that have ties to missionaries in Africa want sponsor a vehicle for their friend, or even help to build the wooden BUV bed.
Volunteers for the factory and office are always needed, and some opportunities include:
- Shop Volunteers - Retired engineers and handymen are a perfect fit for our factory volunteering needs. 1x per week (morning or afternoon) Retired men are drawn to this option. Shop skills are a plus but not required. Weekly volunteers become even more valuable over time as they learn the many steps of building a BUV.
- Office Help - We always need help with office organization, marketing, website design, and technology
- "Build-a-Bed" Mission Project - We encourage families, small groups, volunteering organizations, and Boy Scout troops to sign up for a Saturday session to build a BUV cargo bed. Better yet, build a bed for a missionary that your church supports. These projects work well with father/son teams and Men’s ministries. (Saturday from 9 am – 1 pm once per month)
- Mission Trip – Business As Mission Visit kingdom businesses overseas. You’ll see several BUVs serving in mission. Help us evaluate local business partners. See several ministries and serve where needed. We take 1-2 trips per year in fall or winter. Example: Ghana (July 2009 - 9 days): see 5 kingdom businesses, 4 ministries, up to 10 BUVs in action, and 2 BUV factory candidates. The Ghana trip is co-led by Mission Resource International.
Other qualities that our donors and volunteers have in common are a heart for Africa, the desire to help the poor in a practical way, and the knowledge that Kingdom Businesses help to spread the gospel of Jesus Christ throughout the world.
