About I.A.T.
The Institute for Affordable
Transportation (IAT) is a not-for-profit public
charity devoted to
developing high-quality, low-cost transportation for
the working poor in the developing world.
IAT is based in Indianapolis, Indiana, USA
and funded by individuals, foundations,
churches, and
the international corporations.
We have a simple vision:
Basic Vehicles. Changed Lives.
Headquartered in the
motor-racing capital of the world, IAT is
positioned to leverage first world
resources toward the development of a
"Car for Humanity". The
Basic Utility Vehicle (BUV) is a vehicle
for change. Its purpose is to help
meet peoples' everyday needs at the ends of the
earth. More than cars, we are
building people, opportunity, and
freedom.
IAT aims to help Americans love and serve the isolated poor
in a practical way. By enabling a
hardy & simple vehicle to be manufactured
throughout Africa, you can lend a compassionate hand to the
poor and provide a tool which bestows
economic opportunity and the dignity of
work.
We welcome your suggestions on
the rugged, adventurous ride.
Respectfully,
Will

the BUV will go:
...where the streets have no name
...where unpaved road ends
...where the people need hope
